Plumpton - Tuesday 14th January 2025

There is an 8am inspection at Plumpton tomorrow but I'd like to be confident about it going ahead looking at the weather. Hopefully we can get a clear run through this week.

15:10, Southern Contract Ltd Veterans' Handicap Chase

Credo 11/4, 2pts win

This is a nifty little Veteran's Chase for a Tuesday afternoon at Plumpton. I like Credo here for Anthony Honeyball and Chad Bament (claiming 10 pounds). She's just turned 10 and so now eligible to run in these races and this is a step down in competitiveness from the last few contests she's been running in. She is also now finally back down to her last winning mark (Wincanton, October 2023). She ran a decent enough race on seasonal debut back at that track when finishing 3rd off a 5 pound higher mark behind a rejuvenated Remastered. He two runs since have come on very heavy ground at Haydock and I just don't think she's been enjoying it. She's back on a slightly better surface here and in calmer waters.

15:45, Book The Cheltenham Preview Raceday Handicap Hurdle

Seek Him There 15/2, 1pt each-way (3 places)

This 6 year old started off his career in decent fashion when finishing 2nd in a bumper at Market Rasen in 2023. It's been difficult viewing since then as he has struggled to make much of an impact in maiden hurdles until last time out when he ran a cracker to finish second at Southwell, well ahead of the field behind him. That was a big step up on his previous hurdling form but it's worth noting that the race at Warwick in November was quietly a half decent race as a couple of the placed horses have come out and either won or run very well. Seek Him There is up in trip here for handicap debut which looks a plug and Ben Case's stable has been ticking along quite well since Christmas. This looks a good opportunity.
